went out this morning as our traditional Boxing day hunt. we decided that today we would concentrate on the bigger hedges on the farm. so equipt with the long net, purse nets, 4 ferrets. sounding bar, spade and locators we set off.
arrived at the first warren and things were looking good i netted up my side of the hedge 7 pursenets laid. while i did this i noticed the rabbit fencing had been broken for some time with decent looking runs throught the gaps so i ran out the long net. in the traditional method. while tommy and ryan netted their side of the hedge.
after a few minutes the nets were down and ferret entered. had 2 bolts but slipped the net and missed the longnet

but anyway they are ther for another day. few minutes later another rabbit bolted this time from a hold that had been missed and it headed for the holes inthe fence, straight through and into the long net.
so ferrets kept showing decided to lift the nets and move on. while i lifted the long net i attached it to the pegs in the quick set fashion.
at the next set i noticed that ther were plently of sticks where the farmer had cut the hedges anyway just climbing the fence resulted in a tangled long net. this took me an hour at least to sort out while tommy and ryan ferreted a large hedge .
i was soon finished fixing the long net. and went to help out with the hedge. 4 ferretes were entered and none had showed with one rabbit boltingand leaving a pursenet entangled with sticks and twigs
after a few minutes i had a mark with the locator 1st dig of the day at 3 feet and this was at a previous dig. so not to bad to get down but soon as i put my hand up the ferret moved. trenched in a little to try and reach the ferret but no luck the rabbit had gone with the ferret on its tail.
so another mark this time not to bad 2ft dig, and rite on top of a rabbit and the white ferret was retrieved aswell. my pole cat jill had also came out while i dug this hole leaveing 2 ferrets still in. went to find the other ferrets to see what they were up to one was stedy at 3 feet the other was moving around under a big pile of bolders.
so another quick dig and anohter rabbit pulled from the hole. aswell as my polecat. so one ferret in and in a spot that was impossable to dig. few minutes later she emerged from the hole.
heres a few pics
