went out last nite with flynn, and my mates bull X Trunk, also took a mate with us who is keen to see the dogs run at night. left the house at 9pm and was at the first hunting road by 9.20. few fields scanned and a fox spotted in a big field he was sitting rite in the middle of the field so red filter on the lamp, dan pulled up and we were in the field as soon as the lamp was turned on flynn locked on ( woo hoo) and when the fox started to move i sliped him, the fox had a good 50yrd start on him, but flynn did well to make up ground, but unfortunalty it hit the hedge before he grabed it.
so moved on and i spotted around 10 rabbits sitting in a field it was to good to miss since rabbits have got very light on the ground round here. so pulled up again but this time dan didnt take the filter off and this resulted in flynn running on from a really long slip, which was an accident, as i wanted to get him in close for a slip.
did a few more roads, but ther was nothing on them by this time it was 12. then we came to the big corn field from last week. we turned the lamp on and 2 hares rite on the end of the beam so approched and one of the hars ducked into the cover, but the other one walked rite up the beam and stopped to look at us then made a bolt for it, flynn slipped and ive never seen him run so well, turned it rite at the hedge and turned it again but lost it. Was a class chase. flynn went well since its his first go on a hare.
went into the next few fields and we came into a grassy field with high grass, and ther was a fox lying in the long grass about 15 yrds from us, but it mite as well have been on the other side of the moon. ther was a double fence of sheep wire and trying to get the dogs over it with out the fox buggering off would have been impossable. but tried anyway with no luck. so dan followed him to see if he would sit again for us but he didnt.
moved on again this time just a cross the road and a fox sitting on top of the hill, this one we called for 30 mins with him just watching us with his finger up.ened up putting him into some cover and i was nominated to walk through the cover and put him out to the dogs but must be a set inther cuz he didnt pass me and he didnt appear out????
by this stage it was 3am and the battery was going flat, not bad 6 hours lamping outta it .
mite have a video will add it later when i get a chance to look. all in all a decent nite, didnt see much but the hares alone made my night.
