Have you ever seen 2 less interested dogs. The first rabbit that puts its head out in weeks of rain and they're not even a little bit proud

Hi tippet,
I too like the look of the lurcher, I had one many years ago that colour, from deerhound stock. I used to course with Ted Walsh, and some of the men highlighted in his book, Lurchers and Longdogs, Perry Fairfax and Basil Smalley, their dogs were also very similar to the one on your photo. Although I LOVE black dogs, blues and brindles, I do like the fawn or wheaton coloured dogs.

see the new topic in general chat ive posted these lurchers are what i like , just like the norfolk types ted walsh.s book is a classic lurchers and longdogs at twelve year old iread it in two days cover to cover whilst suffering from chicken pox

Thats a lovely looking dog Romany, looks shorter in the body than my Tip, who struggles to turn on a rabbit when running fast. The 2 pups we've got from him and another lurcher should be shorter, therefore better rabbiters, we hope laugh.gif Ppl always seem to talk about how high a dog is but not how long, wonder why.
I did a google on norfolk lurcher and found www.lurcher.org. I'd not seen it before, theres some interesting history. I hadn't come across Ted Walsh either (we're only 5 years into being lurcherists smile.gif ), will look out for the book. I've now got a wheaten (they call them yellow here), a grey and a black so I love all the colours too biggrin.gif

Hi Tippet, just away old Fly was standing hon, he had good length biggrin.gif and was 27inches at the shoulder. Ted Walsh`s LURCHERS AND LONGDOGS is a classic,
should put it on your Chrissey list, along with WORKING DEERHOUNDS LURCHERS AND LONGDOGS wink.gif
