was in no rush out this morning, headed out about 11, it was due to clear in the afternoon it was fairly gusty and it was coming down in sheets! rolf weighed in at 1lb 6 due to feeding him up on a rabbit he caught yesterday and we hit the road. when I arrived the wind had died a good bit but rain was still hammering. headed into dirst feild and walked along a row of wind bushes, where a rabbit or two usually breaks to cross over the a very large thick patch of winds. i had barely walked 10 feet of it and he was off, then i noticed what he was after, a magpie was flying towards a small hill about 150 yards away. i was expecting it to be too fast for hium and hes back of after 10 yards or so, but he made ground on it, and eventually at the top of the hill came up from underneath it and struck it, but the crafty devil dodged at the right time and made it to cover at the top of the hill. i gotta say, it had to be the best flight ive ever seen, slipped from the fist and seen it all right in front of me. never knew they were well matched for a harris, though its the first time ive ever seen one close while having the bird on my fist. anyway, made my way to bottom of the field to do a set, when i released there was a few calfs in the fields, so had to leave them to it. crossed over into next field a done 2 good sets om a bank that sometimes produce a rabbit or two. but nobody home! by now the bird was soaked, the wind was really starting to pick up but the rain eased off a bit. then went on to beat a few windbushes along a fenchline, it produced one small quick bolt, rolf hadnt a chance lol. then walked through some thick thrushes hoping to put something up, but nothing again. next set was a decent size, about 15 holes, and rabbits usually bolt cleaning out towards a rockpile about 50 yards from set. ferret down, 5 minutes later a small rabbit pops out, i slip rolf, but it went back down. got him back to fist, then another 2 minutes passed and it rebolted, ran about 10 yards and rolf caught it. it was only a small halfer, i dispatched it, then went back to get ferret and put in box. went i got back to rolf, i changed my mind and decided to takre him off and go for another one. there was still another 7 hours of daylight left and the sun was coming out! i went on to do a few more sets along a stone wall, but not one rabbit at home. rolf was starting to dry up now, but couldnt put out naythign in front of him. so decided to put him in car, get soemthign to eat and head of to another farm, with a little more shelter. but it didnt quite work out that way , as i got back to the, teh wind wasnt to back due to a small hill blocking it. and infront of the farmers hosue it a small field with some winds that always hold a few rabbits. left ferrets at car and headed into field with rolf and my beating spade

beat a few bushes, and eventually bolted one, it headed up the hill to a very large patch of winds, rolf almost got a foot before it go to cover. i decided to leave rolf up the hill and tried to beat them towards him, we had a bolt, didnt really bolt the direction intended, but did still headed up the hill, rolf was off and caught it by the backside just at the cover, anchoring himself in the bush. i went in and opened up the rabbit for his reward.
