Decided to do a bit of lamping last night, no moon, and there wasn’t gonna be much wind. Rolf weighed in at 1lb 5.6, perfect! In the car, collected a mate, and headed out. When we got to the ground, the weather was a lot different than when we left, there was a fairly strong wind, but we hadn’t travelled the 60 miles to drive home again empty handed lol. Straight out of the car we tried a little rough corner, which we got 2 flights from; he got a foot to one, but just didn’t hold. Crossed up into the largest field in the farm, which strangely only had a few sitting out (starting to get cute now too). Walked the whole way to the top and had a nice flight at one a good 100 yards from cover, Rolf chased well, missed, but followed through to chase it in the cover, unfortuantly, he didn’t get a foot to it. At the top of the field a had a little scan into the next field to the left, a rabbit cut across at a right angle, to a stone wall, but Rolf hit it before it reached it, kicked him off and decided to run back, Rolf got up and chased again, missed it yet and , and the rabbit turned, eventually he caught it by the arse, and anchored himself in the stone wall, first of the night, probably one of the best flights I’ve had on the lamp, lasted a good 30 seconds or so, plenty of turns. No more rabbits in that field sitting out, can you blame them lol? So headed into another field. Had two or 3 flights, which all seemed to squat a little, unfortunately, with the wind on his back, Rolf didn’t get a foot to any of them, and struggled to regain for a second attempt. Crossed over another fence, where my mate almost lost a -*test*-('")cicle. Had a quick shine and noticed a rabbit sitting some 50 yards out from a ditch, walked up near it, flicked the lamp on and off Rolf went, Rolf caught it just as it was getting near the ditch. Second rabbit of the night. Got him up of it and looked round the field, there was still half a dozen or so rabbits about, approached one which he missed and then struggled to get back to the fist sue to the wind, while we heard the rabbit running to the side of us. Next rabbit we seen started to squat and we approached, as Rolf left the missed it made a run for it, Rolf chased well, the rabbit ran right by my mate, with Rolf be hind, just as they were getting to the end of the beam a seen Rolf bouncing about, what a great flight! Ran up like the hammers, he had the rabbit by the rear end and was struggling to control it. Went in to dispatch it, and decided that we shall call it at night at that. 3 rabbits in about an hour, in windy conditions, im quite pleased with that result lol.
Below is a few pics, sorry about quality.
Might have a video of a few flights up later.
