What is the law if a cat comes into a very enclosed garden and basically get's it in the worst of ways. We have a large garden big enough for my hounds to get into top speed. We also are over run by cats, so we have to do a morning check of the garden before ours are let out. I do feel though one day it may just happen. So what are the laws.

Sorry if in wrong forum.

as long as the cat is on your proptry you are ok i had this problem where the neighbours cat keep coming in to the garden and escaped with it life i call in next door and told them that could they try and keep the cat out they got a bit checky about it and said there cat could go where ever it like the next morning i went to to excrise the dogs and the cat was all over the garden i picked what i could up put it in a bag and went next door and handed it to the woman and told here what had happened the police called out and told me the law regarden cats and there would be no charges as the cat got killed in my garden but the next week it was front page of are local paper the with a pic of the dead then one of a young girl holding it one christmas alive the best advice i can give is went the dogs kill it dont do the law abiding thing and find out who owns it as it more trouble than its worth just put it in the bin

i have a 90ft garden that backs onto fields
i also have problems with cats mainly a big white fluffy one that lives across the road who thinks it one big game to come over and sit on the top of my shed with its tail hanging down my lot go mad but as yet not come close as i go out and fetch them in -------but now i have kitt he can jump up to the top of the shed and had the tail so i know its not going to be long before he catches it
i went over to the ppl that own the cat told them what was going on her reply was
tell me when your boys have had it ohmy.gif

thought i would cover my back had a word with local bobby he told me as long as it happens in the garden theres nothing anyone can do but---------------------if the dogs get it on the front and ppl see thats a diffirent story its all to do with ppl seeing what happens

i do now if one of mine do get it first bite and it will be dead which will be shame as its a lovely cat

as far as im aware the own is responcable for his or her animals so if they stay into your garden it isnt your fault. is the owners. also the law in england states that the owner must make an effort to call off his dog, totallurcher/whistling.gif wouldnt work with mine

Same here.. I have next doors cat in our garden and often gets chased off my the dogs.. sometimes a very narrow escape!!!! The thing I worry about is the kids.. to see, hear their cat being killed would be awful sad.gif But if its in your garden then thats not your fault.

I was out for a walk at a friends place not so long ago and Jaspa got hold of a cat !!!!(ferral) Shit ! I thought he was gonna kill it ! But he was taken off it, the nasty cuts and puncture wounds to Jaspa's head and ears were nasty.. I was lucky that it wasn't worse.. could've had a one eyed Lurcher.. sad.gif

All was ok later.. Jaspa forgot his injuries and had a good night on the lamp.... totallurcher/victory.gif

Just be careful as it could be your dog who gets hurt... But then whats the law on that one..? blink.gif laugh.gif
