hi all recently i found my netting needles and a spool of really hard to find cotton twine, which is ok for pursenets if double stiched.

so i ordered a spool of hemp and a spool of 12z nylon, and set about filling my nettting bag which now is full to the top, so have been making a few nets for mates and a few for the local gunshop.

i been thinking of changing to spun nlyon or spun poly.. so i intend to have a chat with a few net makers at the midland gamefair (15th-16th september)

heres a pic of some of the nets ive made.

I've made quite a few in spun nylon nets this year, the stuff from Bridport nets is spot on, give them a ring.

I bought the yellow from them with some red drawcord, no more losing nets for me.

yeah i deffo been thinkin about changing from standard Z nylon to a different type of spun nylon or poly, do you find these better to knot ? is it less likly to slip?

thanks Kev

I suppose it depends on what knot you use, but as a general rule Spun nylon does tend to slip easier than other twines especially hemp.

I've got to be honest though and say that although i've knitted quite a few spun nylon nets this year and really like them, there's something that feels"just right" about hemp nets if you know what I mean.

There'll be plenty of people on hand to have a chat to at the midland, I suggest you find the All shires ferret Club stand and ask to speak to "dingo" he's the man where nets are concerned.

thanks for the reply OBE, yeah i deffo agree about the hemp feeling just right, i find it a real pleasure to work with. i been tying my nets with a half hitch and a double half hitch for nylon this holds them just rite with no slipknots.

am looking forward to the midlands this year, just hope what i buy fits in my bag or i mite have to post things back like i did last year totallurcher/whistling.gif

thanks
